Howdie Folks!
Exported the Configuration as csv...
opened in excel, made changes to hunt groups...
resaved as csv.. thenm imported... merged..
no changes???
Any ideas please?

Thank you
Leo

This is not a supported process

also I don't think the CSV export exports every parameter for a group so it could cause you problems

That said I know other posters here have don it from time to time to spare ware & tear on their mouse finger.

Did you check the changes in the CFG after the import before saving back to the IPO

Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear

the Ip office did not show any changes...
all the Hunts were still the same.

DO NOT DO THIS.

However, if you MUST do this (DO NOT), excel is a terrible way to do it, because it will automatically add a "," for every single column.
IP Office does not export in a typical CSV fashion, nor will it properly import one with all the "," at the end. You have to open it up in something like notepad++ and delete all the extra commas.

In the past, when changing a TON of ports that couldn't be done with the extension renumber, I'd make two copies. Open on in excel, make the changes there, and then paste that into the original csv file opened in notepad++ and save. It would not add those extra commas for the missing columns. That typically works.

Trim down the spreadsheet to just HuntGroup_Info_Start through HuntGroup_Info_End. Make your changes, and resave as Configuration.csv. Open in Notepad, delete the comma's after HuntGroup_Info_Start and the comma's after HuntGroup_Info_End. Save again and import into the IPO.

Oh Dear,
got it opened in notepad.. I see commas, but not sure which ones to remove..
When I checked on Manager, couldn't see any commas.
When I re exported the Configuration, the changes were not there.
Any help please?

Thank you

Hold on..
I have the configuration opened in notepad++ but I cannot see any ","
I see commas everywhere
but not between quotes " "
does it means I'm good to go?

I hope you're not doing this with a live system since if something is wrong in the file you might end up with a corrupt config.

Look at the file before you change anything and compare it with the edited version.
There should be no " between the commas and no commas after [HuntGroup_Info_Start] and [HuntGroup_Info_End].

mistake yesterday:
Exported Configuration file
Opened in Excel As csv, made changes to hunts
Saved
Imported. No changes seen .
Did not reboot though
Now I'm working OFF line
I have deleted all apart the hunt start to hunt end..
I see lots of commas .. deleted them all..

Should I look for the same in all the config file?

are we talking about the ,,,,,,,,,,,,,, after lines?
not commas in between right?

Not all the lines, just the line with [HuntGroup_Info_Start] and [HuntGroup_Info_End].

Thank you Janni..
am I right to think then... the commas are added only to what you modify?
and are added after infor start... and info end?

If you do it correctly the commas are only added to those 2 lines, leave the commas on the other lines.

delete the comma's after HuntGroup_Info_Start and the comma's after HuntGroup_Info_End.

Means just what it says.

HuntGroup_Info_Start,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
becomes
HuntGroup_Info_Start

and

HuntGroup_Info_End,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
becomes
HuntGroup_Info_End

Worked!
Thank you!
Done it for hunt groups..

All good

Hope you both got the Star you deserve!

It is plain stupid to adjust configurations like that. One day you make a little mistake which may have impact to the whole programming.

Personally the time it took to get all of this feed back he could have programmed it from scratch

I appreciate your comments
I understand your points.
There were 1630 Hunts groups to change... (I know too many) and this was the only way.
Would you have known a better way? Please tell me

Anyway,
thank you and have a great day :)
