hi i am changing from a pop mail server to an imap exchange 5.5 server. what i want is the user to be prompted to enter his user name and password to access their mail box, so more than one person can use the same pc, but only get their own mails not the other peoples.
even better can i get the pc to look at who is signed on and retrieve their mails from the server?

Thanks in advance

Hi bchizary,

If you're using NT4.0 or higher then when each user logs in they will only be able to retrieve their own mail. For each user of the computer, with the user logged in, do the following:

1. Right click the Outlook icon
2. Click properties
3. Click show profiles
4. Click add
5. Select the services which apply. We use only Exchange. Click next.
6. Name the profile. I use the user's full name. Click Next.
7. Enter the name of the exchange server and the name of the user's mail box i.e. John Doe. Click next.
8. Click finish.

You're done. Only the mailbox of the person logged in will be able to opened.

Sorry if this was overly simplified, but I didn't know how much experience you had.

Cheers.
