NOt by me, but when I tried setting it all up again the computer remains whirring away Nothing is seen on screen, I can't switch it off by powering down in the normal way, CTRL_ALT_DEL does nothing either,
The only way to stop it is by unplugging at power source.
Any ideas,
If F8 is start in safe mode that doesnt work either, not sure what to try now.

We had to move it all because electrician and plumber needed access to floor boards.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated
thanks

Replace the Power Supply.

I was a little hasty.

Unplug the machine for twenty minutes. (Really, pull the plug from power at the back).

Plug it back in and try again. There may be enough charge on the capacitors in the power supply to confound it.

Also if you have to force the machine to power off, try holding the power button in for 5-10 seconds as this should power the machine off and although this is not a gracefull shutdown it is probably mor advisable than pulling the plug.

It might be worth you having a look inside the PC and checking that all components are seated correctly (eg memory, processor etc...)

HI everyone, thanks for these tips I forgot to say I had already tried all those things.
Will give it another go. maybe it will work 'cos' you told me to do it rather than me thinking I should!!!!!

I didn't get anything on the screen so I double checked all the connections earlier today.

Then I noticed a hot smell coming from it I wonder if the fan has stopped working? Tomorrow I will take it apart to see if I can determine what it might be.
Else it is off to PCWorld as it is under warranty

thanks for suggestions
