In other words, our regular website outside of our network is Well, when I set up the AD I named our network example.com. So now no one on our internal network can get to our website because AD DNS thinks is the PDC.

I'm a total newbie with 2000 server and trying to figure this out as I go so please don't think any explanation is too simple. You guys have been great and I'm sure before I've got this totally installed I'll be back so many, many thanks in advance!!

Karlis,
Thanks for the response. I tried that but it keeps telling me a domain of this name already exists.

You must add a HOST record called point it to your external web page address.

This is what karlisi is trying to say.

"In space, nobody can hear you click..."

I thought I was doing this correctly-- under forward lookup zones there is the example.com domain. Inside of that I am right clicking, selecting new host, and then trying to use add the outside IP address. The message keeps telling me 'a domain of this name already exists. To create a record with this name select the domain and then create the record.'

There is a but it's pointing to the name server inside the network. Is it OK to delete that and then add the new as a Host?

OK, this is your problem, you cannot make duplicate host records.
Probably internal DNS server (and, if I understand correctly, it is your AD DC too) is named ' In this case 'www' host record is made automatically and, if you delete it, it will reappear. You cannot rename DC, so I have no idea. Perhaps you should make mirror of your website on your DC for inside users.
