What is the procedure for recalling history commands? I press the up arrow key, no luck. How do you make it work, thanks.

Try Crtl + P

I believe some older IOS does not allow this feature.

Hyperterminal doesn't always send the arrow up key properly. You may try downloading the most recent version, it will probably solve your problem. ----------------------------------------
