I am working on a xp system with SP1 and am not able to print to my laserjet 6L. The paper light is solid green and power light is solid green. when I try to print the power light flashes and then nothing happens. the print job goes to the queue but never prints. it deletes itself after a minute or so and then the power light goes solid green again. I have tried many things but I don't know what is going on. If I connect the printer to another device I can print to it with no issues. This is connected via parallel cable just incase you're wondering. I know its the driver or something from the system that is not working. Can anyone help???

Try a new parallel cable.

The one you're using may have a bad wire in it, indicating the printer isn't ready, the paper is out, etc.

Additionally, your print driver may not be tossing a FF at the end of the job, and the job is timing out in the printer buffer.

I'd try a new parallel cable first, though. Make sure it's a bi-directional cable, and make sure that your parallel port setting in your BIOS is set for EPP, instead of SPP.

Both systems are XP? If not, you might try putting the 2000 driver on the XP unit.
