Help! I have installed a maintenance kit and face down assembly but printer still jams with four bits of paper all the way through the feed path - but not on every print job.

I have been told its the logic board which may be at fault - £750 to replace - ouch. Does anyone else agree. How does the logic board have anything to do with the paper path?

Knowledge please!!!

Cheers

Don't know about a possible tie in to board, but I've generally found that intermittent jams are more a function of paper that has absorbed moisture or of feed rolls that have gone glazed. Ed Fair

But if I have changed the maintenance kit and face down roller assembly then there are no more feed rollers to change? The users have been using a warmer room to store paper to rule out the moisture absorbtion problem.

What is the exact function of a logic board - I would imagine it interprets print jobs and executes them - Does the logic board also operate paper pick up arms etc?

The printer engineer I have used to troubleshoot it was out of ideas and then suggested the logic board problem - I have a feeling that this suggestion is less than accurate.

Logic board controls everything electrical, interface, display, printing , and the feeding of paper.
Once the logic board has tripped the feed clutches the travel of the paper is a mechanical function. The potential problem in discounting the logic board is whether there are multiple clutches in the path. If there are, then failure of a second clutch would cause a jam, but that could be board, clutch, or paper sensor.
Don't know what your maintenance kit had in it, but those I deal with only have pick up rollers. And the face up rollers only provide the exit. You probably have 3 or 4 more sets of rollers buried inside.
Cheap test for paper/moisture is to buy one ream new. Generally stores have good control and the wrappers are moisture resistant.
