I have 31 colums of data, and I want to be able to select to columns. One as a start point and one as an end point.
Then I want to sum the contents per row between these two points. is this possible and if so how?

Thanks in advance

Is your question a) How to Sum cells (answer: =sum(ColRow:ColRow), or b) How to allow an end user to dynamically select the start and end row? Jonathan Challis

Charlie,

From your description, it seems like the solution is fairly straight forward. Therefore this suggests that your task is more involved. However, if your sitation is as described, then here's the solution.

This is based on you having a total of 31 columns of data, from which you want to sum the data between two specific columns somewhere within the 31 columns.

If your 31 columns start in column A, then the last column would be column AE.

If, for example, your start column is E and your end column is W, and your data starts on row 2, then go to an empty column to the right of your data - column AF for example - and enter this formula in row 2...
=SUM(E2:W2)

Then copy the formula down for the number of rows required.

I hope this is what you required. If not, please provide more specifics.

Ok chuck.

The EASY way:

Click on the cell in which you want your total.
Hold the Alt key down and hit the = key once, let go of both keys.
Click and drag to select all the cells you want to add up.
Hit Enter.
