Hello, first off I am not a telephony engineer or anywhere close so please bare with me. We have an IP Office and our telephony provider is telling us that it is not possible to pick up other extensions because of the SIP trunks (if we had PRI this wouldnt have been a problem) So for example -

I phone xxx xxxx 110 which rings but that user is away from their desk so ext 115 wants to answer the call on their belhaf before the VM kicks in... what is the easiest way to do this if it is even possible?

When we tried it the 110 stops ringing and the number shows up on the top line of the handset (115) but the caller continues to get a ringing and the 115 just hears nothing. (this was using DxPickup, I think), the same happened for CallPickup. DxPickup and CallPickup might just be aliases our engineer gave for the command im not 100% sure.

Anyone have any ideas?

Cheers,
Peter

Usually I use sweet talk. You know like "do you ring here often?" or " i really like what you done with you're handset!" Throwing a little money around can't hurt either.

On 4.0 we use:

sc: *xxx
Feat Call pickup ext
TN: N
LG: 0

Are you using IP handsets by any chance?? I saw this in 4.0.5 but thought it was a bug that had been fixed. not tried it recently.

Fooball is not a matter of life and death-It is far more important!!!!

if you can pick up calls ringing then the code you are using is correct.

For problems like this, turn off Direct Media Switching in the properties under SIP line.

Dial *30 to pick up the call that has been ringing the longest in the office.

Yes, we are using IP Phones. Our telephony company have raised a fault with Avaya who have said it is a known issue with SIP trunks and it has been fixed in 4.1

However in the meantime I will try the things you guys are saying.

Thanks,
Peter
