I've just installed the activeperl 5.6 under Win 98.
I subsequently tried to install DBI module so that I could connect to the personal
Oracle 7.3 installed on my P.C. (Pentium 200 MMx )132 Mb Ram;
I'm connected to the internet thru a socks proxy-server on a LAN.
I therefore used the SET HTTP_proxy=as instructed in the docs .I subsequently used ppm to install DBI
I gave install DBI at the ppm prompt and all that I get is this mesg
HTTP POST failed 500 (Can't connect to 192.9.200.22;;80 (Bad Hostname
192.9.200.22)
SOAP method call at SOAPClient.pm line 22
Can anyone HELP !?

I think the problem is in how the proxy's address was setup. A valid address through a proxy may look like (where x = some number) xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:xx or in your case, I believe that the semi-colon is either misplaced or should be put at the end of your comment as a line separator.

I wouldn't worry about the SOAP comment. PPM uses an address like: soap:// when it auto installs a package.

good luck,
