How do I telnet to a G3? Do I need a CLAN card? Can I do it over dialup? Do the same commands I use in DSA/ASA work?

Thanks

Arenine

To be able to telnet into the definity you have to set up an IP SAT.
To be able to do that you need a C-lan card (your ethernet card).
Add an entry to the ip-services form like:
SAT y clan_01 5111 any 0
Add an entry to ip-interfaces form like:
y C-LAN 01C11 TN799 C clan_01 255.255.252.0 .31 .52 .3 1
providing the c-lan is allready set up.

the telnet port is then 5111, but be carefull with the type of terminal emulation you use, a regular telnet client has the habbit of showing garbage and locking up..

ASA term package has the right terminal types

Hope this helps

I have both IP-Services and IP-Interfaces setup. I am using port 5011.

How do I setup ASA Terminal?

Thanks

Arenine

With your swith in the drop down window.
Select edit,
Properties
Add
Network Connection
Host= ip address of your switch
Port =5011
Apply
OK
To remove old connect Highlight and remove. (if you get error message, close ASA and reopen it then remove old connection) Wisdom is Knowledge

Just click on the "new PBX" icon in the top left corner of ASA. Name it, select network, put in the IP, put in the port 5011, and you are done.
