I recently upgraded to WinXP PRO and while happy with the new OS was thinking I needed more horsepower in the form of Memory and CPU speed. I have an Compaq AP400 (P3/450MHz 128MB) and found great prices for 512Mb memory and an upgrade to P3/700MHz.
I got to thinking that since the AP400 is dual processor capable I should take advantage and put the new P3/700 as the 2nd processor. (Intel recommends that the processor with the lowest feature-set be the Bootstrap Processor).
My questions are:
1. Does this sound like a good idea to you?
2. Are there any gotchas (e.g. HAL issues)
3. Will I get any bang for these bucks if I use dual processors?
4. Can I even use 2 processors of different speeds in the same machine?
Your thoughts would be appreciated.
