I have a question. I have a DS1 board which triggered an alarm and the red light is turned on.

Can I remove this card without causing issues?

TIA,
Steve

Yes you can, just be sure to wear the wrist-wrap so you are grounded. When you swap the board make sure the dip-switches are set to the same value.
There are two switches, one for 120 or 75 ohm's and one for 24 or 30 channels Please let me know if the information that was provided is helpfull.

also when you pull that board it will send the system into alarm. Not really a problem, but if your boss has an alarm button oh his phone it will light up and it may call avaya to report the alarm.

Is the board still carrying calls? if so yanking the board will drop all calls currently in progress (kinda goes without saying i guess) also if its the only primary d channel board in the signal group , and you yank it, it will drop the whole trunk group.

TIP; addition to RTMCKEE's story;
'campon-bus trunk xx' will disallow new usage of the trunk,
and will slowly busy it out all the way.
handy feature available in v9 and up.

Can I remove the board without installing another card right away (The board has been faulty for at least a month).

Also, how can I fix the alarm (I'm not under an avaya maintenance contract).

TIA,
Steve

Yes you can 'heyitsthephoneguy'..
Keep in mind that any service that is running on it will be disturbed, when you remove the board.
Also keep in mind that any routes going through that board fail, so make sure you have alternate routes/boards to route to.
'clear err' will get rid of all the old errors, and when you install the new board do a 'test board <address> long clear'.
This tests the new board and should clear all errors if they haven't allready been by installing the new working board.
