How do I automate home directories in Windows 2000??

You can do this in Active Directory for Users and Computers. Pick a user and open the account, go to the profile tab. You can set the home directory there, I do mappings to a hidden share (ie drive letter to //server/share$/%username%). This will create a folder in the share with the same name as the username.

Why do you need to hide the share. MS doesn't recomend using the $ for hiding things as these are meant to be part of the OS. You could also do a simple batch file in profiles like net use. I have a batch file that goes and runs a program that tells me what they have loaded for software. It runs every ninety days, so if somebody has installed something like weatherbug, I can get rid of it. Glen A. Johnson
