I am trying to set up a load balanced sql server solution that will allow for maximum availability and load balancing. I want to be able to turn off one of the servers at any moment and have the database still be available. I am unsure of to set this up. I want to be able to balance the load of queries, both read and write across all servers. I am going to be starting with 2 quad processor servers and possibly growing from there.

Any thoughts would be very helpfull as I am a newb when it comes to SQL server and replication.

There is no true real time replication between servers. To have both server be able to handle read and write queries to the database you'll need transaction replication.

This will be the only replication method that meets your needs.

How many transactions per second are you looking at on each server?
