We run our own mail server and are seeing a lot of spam mail. We tried turning on the Realtime Blackhole List blocks, the Open Relay Database blocks, etc:

But those seem to block a lot of legitimate email. Do any sysadmins have any tips to successfully filtering junk mail? We are using Kerio Mailserver 5.5,
Thanks!

Hi mattfarley,

we'r running Mercury/32 on many of our customer sites and have almost no SPAM going trough since v3.32. It uses a powerful content control management system for handling unwanted mail and a "Compliance" page for the SMTP server that allows you to reject certain types of mail before they even make it into your queue (some words taken from the description...).

ORDB and RBL (and others) are supported but we don't use them as legitimate email is blocked sometimes.

So if you are looking for a good and free POP3/IMAP/SMTP server I recommend Mercury by David Harris that can be found at
There is also a forum on this server.
