Help with Nortel CICS : Do I have CLID?

Hello,

I am attempting to set up a call log on our Nortel phone system, but I've run into a few issues and I think I figured out the problem. I would just like someone with more knowledge than me to confirm and perhaps give some advice on what I can do next. For context, the system was set up decades ago and I'm not sure by who. We are a small retail hardware store with 4 phones (1 is a T7316E and the other 3 are M7208). I have already gone through the steps to active the call log space for each phone, and each phone is set to log all calls. When I dial Func. 812 on any of the phones is shows "Log is empty". I did some more searching (much of it on these forums) and I decided to check that we have a CLID installed on our trunk. The only number I can find on it is on the front of one of the cartridges "NT7B69AAAA". This appears to be a non-Caller ID cartridge. Am I right in assuming we would need an "NT7B75AAAE" cartridge in order to make the call log/caller ID work?

Thanks for your help!

yes. Normally the cartridge will also have " CI" labelled at the top of it as well. Make sure your customer has also subscribed to Caller Id on their line(s).

Here's a breakdown:
NT7B69AAAA: This is a Standard Analog Trunk Cartridge for the Nortel/Norstar systems. It does not support Caller ID (CLID).
NT7B75AAAE: This is a Caller ID-capable Analog Trunk Cartridge (also called a CLID trunk cartridge). This is the one you would need to enable Caller ID support on analog lines.

Why?
Even though you've enabled call logging on each of the phones and configured them to "log all calls," call logging on Nortel phones is only triggered when a Caller ID signal is received. If the system doesn’t receive any CLID data from the trunk (because the hardware doesn’t support it), nothing gets logged.

Your trunk also needs CLID enabled. I'm surprised you still have an analog trunk -- we had them, and they became so expensive we had to switch.

Are you confusing BCM with Norstar?
Norstar only excepts analog nowadays since the other option ISDN/BRI/PRI disappeared.

The only possibilities are Modem/Gateway's but it's still analog in the end.
