I have created a list of things that take up 1 row down and 7 columns across.

My problem is that whenever I want to copy/cut one of the cells to another cell it will then take up 2 places.

Meaning if I copy something
----------
| | like this, it will paste
----------

----------
| | like this
| |
----------

If I cut and paste the whole row that looks like this to start out
---------- -------------- ---------- --------
| | | | |
---------- -------------- ---------- --------
it will end up looking like this. And ends up deleting whatever is on the second row.
---------- -------------- ---------- --------
| | | | |
----------| | |--------
-------------------------

I tried checking the cell format and they all look the same. This is driving me nuts, what am I doing wrong?

Thanks,
Debbie

Are there hidden columns and rows?

Did you try on another machine?

Is the original data to copy from an excel worksheet?

Yes I have tried editing the same file on another machine and it does the same thing.

Basically it's a NBA game scheduler I put together and I did copy and pasted the info from the NBA web site. So it is about 3 pages of signal lines for each game. Some of the columns are all single rows across but some of them end up being as discribbed above.

Thanks,
Debbie

There you are... you copied from the web! When copying from the web, there are some hidden formating not visible to user!

I suggest you do a paste special and select text only for the pasting.

I could do that but this schedule is done already and I'd hate to redo the whole thing. Is there a way to unformat the hidden stuff?

Thanks,
Debbie

Can't tell you unless I try it out myself. I am afraid you have to try this out yourself.

One more thing I can suggest is to take off all the background color of the worksheet 'cause I suspect that those cells you are copying are alrdy in 2 separate cells, the background cell may have make it not seem so.

Good luck !

Nickson

Thanks for all your help. I found what the problem was. The double cells that should have been single had the "Merge Cells" checked so all I had to do was highlight all and unchecked it and then just deleted the blank rows and it's fixed now.

Wanted everyone to know in case you run into this.

Thanks again,
Debbie
