Am I understanding correctly that VM Pro can use TTS to create auto attendent greetings and annoucements verses have a live body record them? I have looked in the install manual and admin manual and I am not finding much. Does anyone know the correct reference to be looking at or am I not understanding this correctly?

hey GhostZman, TTS is vmpro using a port to read out dtmf inputs back to the caller

Maybe I miss understood during class. I thought there was a feature where you could type in text in a field and it would translate that text to voice to use for a greeting. TTS or Text to Speach. Perhaps my terminology is wrong??

yes it can and yes it is in the manual and maybe its to simple. Put you text in the action's Description field. On the prompt tab select to record a prompt and select Text to Speech as the source.

1) On any action type the text you want spoken into the Description box on the General tab.

2) Select the Entry Prompts tab and click the big green +

3) From the drop down change Telephony Handset to Text to Speech (note this will not appear unless there is text in the box as described in step 1)

4) Enter a name for this file into the "Please select a file..." box.

5) Click the record button (big red circle bottom right corner).

Done, now you have a .wav file that contains a TTS spoken version of the text you entered in step 1.

the only two options I get under the Entry Prompts are PC Multimedia and Telephony Handset. I don't get a Text to Speech. I did type in stuff in the description.

Do you have a text to speech license? And are you running Windows Voicemail Pro? Linux VMP doesn't support TTS until 8.0

I am running Windows VM Pro. I thought the TTS was included in that? so it is still a seperate ad on?

It is a licensed feature and it comes with many of the user licenses options such as Power User.

It was obvious once I got back to the demo kit and tried it out. I must say it was rather disappointing from a quality standpoint, and I would have preferred a womens voice. So I guess we will just be sticking to the tried and true human voice recordings.

You have a TTS licence that uses Micrsoft's Sam for speech, you also have a 3rd party TTS licence that can be used for Scansoft. If you buy one 3rd party licence then you will get only one channel at a time. But the sound of scansoft is much better than MS Sam. If you put in both licences and run Scansoft the 3rd party licence is used first if all those channel are full then it will use the normal TTS licence.

Also if you're Dutch, and install MS in English the speech will be english and cannot be changed.

tts comes with advanced edition licensing or legacy tts license...email reading via tts comes with user licenses...not tts for auto attendants.

I have a TTS license for Scansoft, but dont see one for microsoft. How can I tell which license is being used by the VM?

Am I understanding you correctly that if you only have one license, then the first caller gets one thing, and the second caller can get a different sounding greeting?

But do you have TTS installed?
These are separate DVD's that need to be ordered from Avaya.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Yeah the scansoft is a separate deal...I've actually had some trouble getting it. It appears to default to the MS Sam when there is no scansoft to use.
