Recently I had a problem with a G700 and went to the MGP and looked at the restart logs. Every restart date was set to 1/1, with random times. I then went to the stack and set the time to clock off of our SNTP server, this works well. I then reset the MGP, and looked at the restart logs in the MGP. I saw a new entry for the reset, but the date was still 1/1. I then powered down and restarted the G700 thinking that I may have to do that for the Stack clock and the MGP to sync, this did not work. Any ideas on what is wrong. I called Avaya, and they said the restart logs are junk, and do not work correctly (Avaya needs to hire some people who actually understand these new products that they are selling) .

I'd call Avaya back and if you get the same answer again, ask to be escalated to tier 3 or a supervisor.

I spoke with Avaya again, and the engineer said the restart cause logs in the MGP are a known issue. the fix may come in a later release. The funny thing about the problem is that some of my G700s report the restart correctly and some do not.

Have you upgraded your MGP firmware to 16?
