Floppy drive won't refresh 1

I have a Windows XP box that has a floppy drive that won't refresh. When you first start up the system, you can insert a floppy disk into the drive, and you can use it normally. But the problem comes when you try to put in another floppy. It keeps showing the same data that was on the first floppy disk. I went to refresh, but that doesn't work. I've tried everything I know to do, but the only way to get it to read a new floppy is to restart the computer. I've tried replacing the drive with another floppy drive I know works, but that doesn't do it either. Any ideas?

with google all you get is check cabeling of floppy (pin34)for propper contact.
have you tried do use the back and then forward button in explorer?

There may be a mis-set jumper on the drive for changeline support.

Try hitting the F5 key when you have the floppy frive open in explorer.

What if you try going to run, typing A:\ and clicking the browse button.

Do you see the contact of the disk when you do this, or when you try to open a file from the floppy from an office application file menu?

Were these floppies formatted correctly or just "Quick Formatted"? Are they native to the current machine or imports from a second machine?

Wow, thanx for all the responses, linney I think your right. I've tried F5 and all the other tactics, but it must be the cable. I'll replace it. Thanx again for all the responses.
