finding connected MAC address

I need to discover the connected MAC addresses of each device connected to a catalyst 4003. Is there a command for this ?


Something simular to show ip arp on a catalyst 2950.

Is there a way to review the arp table ?

example from a 2950:

'sh cam dynamic' should give you the information which MAC is going out on which port - but the matching of IP <-> MAC have to be done on a routing device

* = Static Entry. + = Permanent Entry. # = System Entry. R = Router Entry.
X = Port Security Entry $ = Dot1x Security Entry

You could be more specific and just enter the following:

show cam 00-a0-c9-e9-62-5a and it will show you what port is assigned to it. If you enter this command on a switch that just knows about the mac, you can do a show cdp nei mod/port and you can follow path until you get to the appropriate switch mod/port.

If anybody can help me to know in which way I can link the IP (ex: 0.0.0.0) to one MAC (ex: X) address only, in which if the user of the system with the Mac address: X try to chane his IP address can't login to the network or can't use the internet with his new IP.

I suppose you could set a static ARP entries and then somehow block ARP responses from the hosts. It would be a real big mess that's for sure. see
