I was getting reports of everyone's fax DID returning a busy signal. I started testing a few and sure enough they are all busy (each user has their own DID). We have 4 analog lines on the front of the IP Office that connect to our FaxFinder 420. I tried dialing the huntgroup for the fax lines but it was also busy. I then tried dialing each extension for the analog ports but they too were busy.

I logged into the faxfinder and checked the current status link, all the modems are Waiting for Ring so I'm assuming it is not on the faxfinder but something in the IP Office.

What would cause them to ring busy? I've restarted the IP Office and the FaxFinder. The System Status shows no active calls.

after a reboot are they still giving busy back?

Yes even after a reboot of both IP Office and FaxFinder, still busy.

Sounds like a short circuit to me.
Unplug the cables to the faxserver and reboot the ipo.
See what happens then.

honey, i fried the IP Office !!!

I'll give a quick summary of how it is setup:

Every employee has 2 users in the IP Office (1 for phone, 1 for fax). The fax user point to an non-existent extension though, it is just set to forward to the fax hunt group (so of course I get errors and warnings about EXTENSION DOESN'T EXIST but it has usually worked well in the past).

Why doing it the hard way ?
Use or get vmpro and setup fax redirecting in there.

as tlpeter said take the IPO off the FaxFinder, reboot the ipo and then ring the fax extensions and the group

what do you get?

I unplugged analog, rebooted, and rang them, still busy.

My tech set this up this way. If VMPro is easier I'm all for it.

tlpeter, using vmpro can I tell it to look for a range of DID's and forward to fax hunt or do I have to configure each incoming did?

have the analogues fot a FWD set?
In SSA is the card showing up ok no errors etc?
I take it you have checked that DND is not set or something?

The analogs do have fwd set to 222 (fax hunt group) in the USER settings. I'm looking in System Status at the POT and it says forwarding is off... is that right? Here's a screen

no if a fwd is set under user it should say forwarding on and details of the fwd.

make sure you tick fwd internal and huntgroup as well,

in this case the analogue pots are logged out thats what your fault is

plug a phone in and use the login shortcode

i.e

*35*205# for extension 205

if you have login codes set it will be

*35*205*login code#

make sure you dont have force login ticked for the POTS otherwise a reboot will log these out

Force login is ticked and locked by User Right. Let me track it down...

yes so what has happened is the user rights has applied force login

at somepoint someone has rebooted the system which logs all phones with force login out including you POTS and this is why your getting busy on the devices

weird i've done tons of reboots over the last 2 years without this problem. Must be something with the 5.0.18 upgrade i just applied... I'm working on logging in the port now. I'll keep you updated.

Ok what type of phone do I hook up to the ports and log in with? An IP or analog phone? I hooked up an ip phone (had to use a poe injector of course) and it keeps saying NO ETHERNET even though I program it.

Do I use an analog phone?

yes a analogue phone
