I have been trying to find any information on someone using a fax server with Avaya Communication manager running on their pbx. From what I gather, there are a few ways to do this. One option is to use an PCI ISDN card and line with multiple (11 or so) DID numbers which route to the correct box. This line would be coming out of this switch so I would need to know how to configure the line to support all these DID numbers to pass. The other option is to use basic automatically generated DTMF tones and an analog modem to route the calls. Both of these options though have been really confusing and the department who handles the switch can't seem to figure out how to configure the it correctly.
Anyone running any of these configurations? Even if I get the DTMF tones to pass automatically based on the extension number the person dialed, I would be extremely happy.
From the information they gave me, our switch info is the following:
Avaya G3si running Communication Manager 3.1
Avaya S8710 Media Server
Unfortunately, I don't know too much about these switches so I don't know if these are two different switches or one set. Sorry for leaving anything out of this post, I'm desperate for any help.. I don't know where else to turn so any help would be GREATLY appreciated. What would be wonderful is step by step directions I can give to our telephone department to follow.
Thanks so much!
