Hi guys,
I have a question about fax detection. My set up is as follows-

* Avaya IP Office 500v2 R9.1.12 build 213
* Essential Edition
* Trunks: SIP & 1 analogue (I think in the USA you call them POTS lines)
* Voicemail: Embedded (NOT Voicemail Pro)

Most incoming alls are distributed to the 1 Hunt Group, with the exception of 1 or 2 DIDs from the SIP trunks.
If the calls are unanswered, the Hunt group's Voicemail box answers the call, etc.

Does anyone know that if you receive a fax and the call is answered by any Voicemail box if there is a way to reroute the call through to an analogue (fax) extn either through the Incoming call Route or Voicemail settings in the system?

I've checked some of the help instructions and it appears that Auto Attendant has this feature however I don't use this as the IP Office is set up at Home/Home office. I was wondering if anyone has established or tested a scenario where if a Fax is answered by a normal Voicemail box if that call can automatically be rerouted to the Fax ext?

These days receiving a fax is rare but I was just wondering if this was possible?

Thanks all in advance for any advice/suggestions.

The only fax detection available (that I know of) comes from routing the call through the auto attendant. Best I can think of is sending the call to an auto attendant for the fax detection with no greeting recorded and 1 second maximum inactivity and the fallback extension set to your huntgroup. Far from ideal but it would detect the fax and route the rest of the calls to your huntgroups. The other solution is you answer the call and manually transfer calls to the fax.

The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.
