Extension dialing between sites

I have two sites each with a Nortel PBX. Is it possible to set up ext. dialing between the two sites? I was told it can be done and the users would have to dial 88 plus the ext, however, I have no idea where to begin. Has anyone implemented this or know how to?

i never have the user dial the dsc (88) just the ext number. if the ext are unique at each site, then the user can dial just the dn.. the starts in ld 87/86, do you have a tie between or are you using pstn for networking?

you can use a steering code for each site, followed by the 4 digit DN...if you feel you will have multiple sites with overlapping dial plans someday'

or you can just do teh 4 digit dialing if you dont overlap and dont plan on adding many sites to the mix

I would get a private PRI line between the sites if thats an option and you arent using IP..

of course IP would be my preferred choice since you prob have bandwidth already between locations for data

Use a Tie line and then setup steering codes jut like MG2005 is saying...

you need one of us the post a simple cdp setup, after you see one it's not that bad.. if the remote dn's are in groups it's simple, if you route 12 and you using 4 digits, that sends 1200 to 1299

Not sure what your switch hardware is but we needed package 59 for our 81c & 61c.

a way to dial between site without cdp is to use ac2 then enter your dn range in 90 as spn's.. it's not as clean as dialing just the remote dn, but if you do not have the pkg's it's an option
