TIA:
I have a problem with a single user trying to save an excel file to a network drive. Other users with identical permissions(RWX) do not have a problem saving data.
The server OS is win2k or win2k3. The user has RWX permission to the directory. The user can save the file to the desktop and then drag it to the network drive without problem. However, when the user tries to do

File ->Save As -> NETWORKDRIVE:file my-new-excel-file.xls

the message

"The file my-new-excel-file.xls already exists. Do you want to replace the existing file?"

appears. Since the user does not Modify rights, this now empty file on the network drive cannot be deleted. How did my-new-excel-file.xls get to the network before being saved?
and what can I do to resolve this? Assuming the permissions for the user are indeed RWX.

I don't know why, but ever since you posted this, I keep thinking the other users have a problem and not this person.

Anyway, if all the permissions are the same; try renaming their local user profile and recreate it.
