Hi,

I've got a really strange one that's confused the h3ll out of me!

Windows 2000 Server SP2
Citrix XPe SP1/No FR

Got an application that is published, it runs Hummingbird's Bi-Query v7, runs a specific report, then outputs the result to Excel.

If I (as Admin) run it, it works
If my test user (Non Admin) runs it, it works
If 1 user runs it, it fails with a pop up box titled "Visual Basic" then reads "System Error &H80004005 (-2147467259). Eventually you get a VB/Out of Memory Error and the whole thing never works.

So, I renamed his profile, got him to log in, create a brand new profile and test it, it fails! So, renamed his newly created profile, got him to use on of our devlopment servers instead, it fails! Re-configured my test user so that he has the same group membership. Got my test user, did the above and every time my test user logs in, it works!

Any ideas? I'm out of them!

Cheers,
Carl.

Hi Carl,

Have you tried regmon and filemon from sysinternals.com.
I use these all the time will tell you all file and registry access success and failure.

The other one I have found is to run dcomcnfg from a dos prompt and set the default launch permissions to everyone enabled.

Cheers

Hi,

I've narrowed it down to his home drive, however I'm now stuck because FileMon can't monitor remote drives!!!!!

Thanks for the dcomcnfg stuff though!

Cheers,
Carl.

Is it worth running Filemon on the remote (server ?) at the same time or is that too much hassle (too many file accesses to wade through)?

Hi,

I've passed the problem back to the programmers so they can try to resolve it!

Arguably the best slopey shouldered support guy around ;-)

Cheers,
Carl.
