Hi
Im using Excel 2003 whos conditional formatting only allows 3 conditions to be set. Can anyone please tell me if 2007 is any better (certianly in the number of conditions per cell)?

Many Thanks

Yes, it is infinitely better. There are many special types built-in now. If you Google or Bing this topic, you'll find many sites that will show you screenshots of what's available.

I'm truly looking forward to the day when they start using this at work. I use conditional formatting often and run into the problem of needing more. This means I have to find some way of working around that. Excel 2007 will make my life easier.

Thanks JP, so as far as you know, it does have over 3 conditions available per cell? This is going to solve a mulitutde of problems if so!

Cheers

Oh yeah. For now, technically you have 4 conditions you can set. Think of the usual settings as a fourth condition or a not condition 1, 2, or 3 condition.

For example, I have a spreadsheet that tracks whether items pass or fail a specific test. My manager set this up and he purposefully uses PASS, PASSS, FAIL, FAILL. The misspelled words are to indicate that it passed (or failed) previously but has since been retested.

I got tired of changing the font color to red or green, which the manager wanted. I could only set three conditions with conditional format, right? Okay, so I set the text in that column to green. If someone enters FAIL or FAILL, it turns to red. If they enter PASS or PASSS, it's green.

Download a trial version of Excel 2007 and play with it. Just make sure you uninstall it before you install a full paid version.

JP,
Yup, I Googled 2007 Con Formatting and found a number of good explanations which immediately started the design juices flowing!

If I were to download a trial version of 207, why is it important to delete it first before installing the paid version?

Cheers

Trial versions have been known to not fully convert to a paid version. Murphy's Law says it will not convert properly and expired the night before you need to do some critical work with it.

Much easier to uninstall it first. ;-)

Ah I see. OK bud, thanks for the headsup. Much appreciated.

Be prepared for a bit of a learning curve with the new interface but enjoy the new features. :)
