Dear All,

Recently, after dropping my computer, I had to install a new hard drive, and of course, re-install XP Home plus all my application programmes; one of which was Visual Basic 6.0.

Now, every time I start the programme, I get a message saying, “the feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available”

When I cancel that message, I am advised of “Error 1706”, and that the programme is looking for, vs_setup.msi

After cancelling several times the messages cease, and VB6 loads.

The problem is I have searched the installation disk and cannot find any file named, vs_setup.msi

This problem has only arisen since I re-installed VB6.

Any ideas?

Regards,

john

The stick in your visual studio setup disk and start the VB program.
Something the program needs is missing and so it is trying to run the msi set up again to install that missing component.

SBerthold,

i have already tried that and it doesn't work, the file vs_setup.msi is not on any of the disks.

regards,

john

SBerthold,

thank you, i will try that.

regards,

john
