I'm shaking my head too.

At one time an Avaya IP Office system would block caller IDs when you dialed 8 to go out. (Nine would and still does send the callers DID number.) 8 still sends nothing as far as the the IP Office is concerned, but somewhere along the line the Billing Number is getting inserted.

As a possible fix, the CO tech would like us to enter a number and then block it or bar it or whatever. Apparently, he thinks the CO wants to see a number to NOT display.

Is this something anybody has ever had experience with?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you.
Dale

you can try sending a W in you dial short codes. you dont say what version you are on but in 4.x, 5.x and 6.x you can do this in the ARS. so your 8N short code must point to one of the ARS groups. in that ARS group put sW in each telephone number field.

so like this

S/c 1N
Dial
Telephone number=1NsW

I tried it with the W once and it didn't work so I usually send an incomplete number 000 and that helps to suppress it on the other side as invalid.
There is a command for the end CO to stop showing the caller ID even if ti gets send along but I am not sure if IP Office can actually do that. I remember that from my CO days that caller ID gets always send along even for blocked calls and the end CO then won't send it along to the called party.
check your shortcode 8N to see where ti goes and what it uses and then yuo can let us know and we might see something else.

Thanks Kevin and Joe. You gave me something to look at.

1N = DID Number
1NW = BTN Number
1NSW = BTN Number
1NSSW = Actual 4-Digit Extension
1NSSiW = Actual 4-Digit Extension
1N2142616790SSW = No Dial Out

1NSSW comes closest to what they want. Is there any way to stop it from sending the 4-Digit Extension?

Thanks again.

Note:
I haven't been able to verify yet, but it looks like "W" stopped working correctly after we upgraded from 4 (something) to 5 (something).

Thanks.

I had an R6 last week and could not get it to work with the W
1N2142616790SSW = No Dial Out won't work because you add the 2142616790 to the number you dialed.

thanks for the star daleblizz

in the uk I create a SC for the system to block the number as

? / W. / Dial

if the customer wants to send a specific number then a system SC

9N / s.xxxxxxx / dial

and so on

seems to work on most current and previous versions.

We do the same as monkey and have no issues with it.

AMriddle -

The W. is correct - I always put it before the number to be dialled and it works.

For the other one yes I would put .Sxxxxxxxxxxx, missed that.

That must be the W of weird, documentation is clear on this:
TN = .W to block outgoing CLI on local trunks.

I will not deny that but i always use .W and it works! So no need to try something else;)
