I have a bit of a strange one I am going to site to investigate more thoroughly tomorrow.

Around two thirds of messages left on embedded voicemail card consist only of a ticking noise.

System is R6 V2. I have discovered that the ticking occurs when I make an incoming call which goes through to voicemail and I then disconnect the call (from my mobile) without leaving a message. It is as if there is a problem with the disconnect clear timers.

The system has 5 Analogue lines which I only found out post install were BT Featurelines. I discovered incoming calls transferred off switch would not disconnect unless transferred using Featureline's built in divert timers.

I am wondering if the ticking is related to the disconnect clear signal not being available on Featureline.

Any ideas guys and gals?

If it's on 6.0.8 it needs upgrading, the system causes corruption to messages and other things related to the SD card on 6.0.8 :)

I'll check s/w level but I don't think it's corruption. I have had the problem with the SD card at another site where I had to format and reload the SD.

Sorry - meant to add - the problem where the system freezes and then goes into default after a reboot.

That's the exact fix for the symptoms of the corruption, the system makes the SD card randomly (often following a reboot) go into read only mode, the filename for the message gets created but then the message is not recorded at all or incorrectly and you either get silence or ticking. At it's worst the issue causes your system to go default and you need to remove and re-insert the card to be able to send the config back in.

If they are both on 6.0.8 trust me and upgrade or you will probably be in for a nasty surprise one day :)

I've had this in the past with alog lines, the calls would not clear down unless ended by a person on the system end so you are right in suspecting the disconnect clear.

The solution thzat worked for me was phone the network provider (BT in my case)up and ask them to increase the disconnect clear to about 700ms

Indeed, I'm not saying it can't be the lines, but I had VM issues which the upgrade fixed, and so upgrading is just genral good advice. BT feature lines are always a pain in the 4ss anyway :)

OK cheers guys - I'll upgrade first and see if that resolves. As for the disconnect clear BT have told me there is no option on Featureline to alter disconnect clear times.

Try reducing the disconnect clear on the IP Office, it's set to 500ms, if you can find out what featureline is set at you need to make sure the is a minimum of 150ms difference between the two.
