Hi all,
We have been experiencing problems with our vintage 20 DS1 cards in that they were randomly generating errors and occasionally causing a trunk reset, dropping all the active calls. I spoke to an Avaya engineer and he has stated that there is a known problem with vintage 20 and 21, has anyone else encountered this problem? Avaya have disabled a test which has more or less stopped the trunks resetting but I would like them to replace the cards. John

Hi John

How did you realise this problem? We had a switch outage yesterday when the trunks dropped and it was "blamed " on BT but they found no fault with their pipe and we found no fault with the DS1 cards (vin 20)

Hi again

I have found out from our maintainer that the disruptive test 146 as been disabled on later s/w releases and has stopped the problem you are having. So if this test has been disabled on your switch you shouldn't have these problems again.

Hi Dave,
Yes the Avaya engineer disabled this test and that seems to have rectified the problem but Im concerned that this is only hiding the issue, has your maintainer got any views on this? John

John

As it is the test which causes the problem and this has been deactivated there should be no more worries. It came to light 2 years ago that the test was the problem and hence deactivated.
