Domain Controller and Website

I have a Windows 2000 Server domain controller with the domain name of xyz.com. My corporate website is xyz.com but its hosted on a different server. I created a host name in the DNS table of the domain controller called

http://www with

points to the IP of the server running the website. Now users are complaining that they have to use

http://www all

the time to get to the site. They want to be able to just type

http://xyz.com

to get there as well as being able to use

http://www.xyz.com.

Please advise.

I found a similar thread related to this problem.

If you have xyz.com set as your domain in the DHCP options, you can type

http://www

and get to the website. You can even leave off the http:// and type

http://www in

IE and get to the website. You can make another entry in DNS called "intranet" for your webserver and all anyone will have to type in IE is intranet and they are there. Easy enough?

You need to add a default A record into your DNS. Create a new A record without a name "Same as Parent" (if using MS DNS) and point it to the web server IP
