I have a Windows 2000 Server domain controller with the domain name of xyz.com. My corporate website is xyz.com but its hosted on a different server. I created a host name in the DNS table of the domain controller called points to the IP of the server running the website. Now users are complaining that they have to use the time to get to the site. They want to be able to just type to get there as well as being able to use Please advise.

Thanks

If you have xyz.com set as your domain in the DHCP options, you can type and get to the website. You can even leave off the http:// and type IE and get to the website. You can make another entry in DNS called "intranet" for your webserver and all anyone will have to type in IE is intranet and they are there. Easy enough?

Start, Help. You'll be surprised what's there. A+/MCP/MCSE/MCDBA

Tell them to type xyz and press CTRL+ENTER

You need to add a default A record into your DNS. Create a new A record without a name "Same as Parent" (if using MS DNS) and point it to the web server IP
