Before you did that, did you first select the entire document? You can use Ctrl+A to do that.
Also, go to Tools-Options, Sp & Grammar and hit Recheck document if it's available. That clears any spelling errors that may have been marked as ignored during previous spellchecks.
It could be in your header or footer; it could also be in a hidden header or footer. Maybe. I would have to see the file to be sure. If you'd like to send... anne@vbaexpress.com

When I hit Ctrl+A and then go to Tools-Language-Set language, there's a *grayed* checkmark in the "do not check". That means that SOMEWHERE in your document is an area that's assigned not to be checked.
How to find it?
Edit-Find and hit More, then Format-language...
You'll see that it's actually just your field that contains the file name that's set to no proofing.
Sorry. I can't tell. I get the same message in both 2000 and 2002.

File-Page setup, Layout tab.
Change to different odd and even.
Go to the bottom of the first page and hit Ctrl+Enter to insert a page break. Now go to the bottom of that new page. You've got an errant even page footer there that just says "footer". You might want to get rid of that...
