Is there a way to put an extension on a phone - which you can see if that line is busy (say it belongs to your boss) - but you want to disable anyone from picking up that extension?

so something like (theoretically):
key 5 SCNP 5555 0

SCNP - no ring - private - you can see it but you can't access it - you can't answer it - and you can't use that line to make a call

did that make sense

I don't think he knows what a BFS key is

BFS - I was asking for a DN assignment - ie: SCR, SCN, MCR, etc you can't say KEY 1 BFS 2000 1

????? I guess I didn't ask the question right

Try this KEY 1 BFS <TN>

It will do what you are asking.

If you don't want your BFS keys to forward then set

BFS_CFW no in FTR_DATA in the CDB (LD 15)

I get an error with key 1 bfs dn .....
are you sure you meant key 1 bfs tn?

something tells me I should just forget it as it is getting more complicated by the minute - I guess this is something which cannot be done - or which cannot easily been done

but thanks for trying to help :)

The TN of the phone you want to monitor. Not the DN.

If you want to monitor DN 4000 on TN 4 0 1 0 then you would put.

KEY 1 BFS 4 0 1 0

I don't think he knows what a BFS key is" - was a correct assumption (and I'm not a he) - I thought BFS was a mnemonic for something not nice - so sorry about that. But that was the correct answer - I just did not know how to use it. I looked it up under dn assignments and this is why I couldn't find it.

Thank you - this was the solution.

You are officialy "valuable" here now that you've gone though this rite of passage.

Welcome! It is all in fun. You would not be the first one to not have every mnemonic memorized. You will not forget that one, eh? :)

If you ask me, bigindian65 is the one to be ascared of.
