Is the drive or software set for compression? I get the same results from my DLT7000 drivers (yes, 35gb is the native capacity). Have had no problems thus far... Bill

Hey guys !!!

This is not a problem, it is a feature of the DLT7000 tape drives.
It uses the DLTtape IV which has a capacity of 35GB/70GB(assuming 2:1 compression) when used with a DLT7000.

The DLT7000 uses a compression by itself, When I use it in backing up unix file system, it compresses the data with a ratio of 43% (it depends according to the DLT what ratio to compress with) but it should not exceed 70GB as Nandkumar said :)
Any way, don't worry and have fun

Eshta!!
