Hi, I'm wondering if it's possible to have our Norstar CICS 4.1 recongnize a distinctive ring pattern from out telco and forward it to a specific extension (i.e. our fax machine).

Is this possible and what programming needs to be done?

Thanks in advance.

I have several sites that use the "Stick" or "Ultracom" to do this feature.

The CO trunk goes into the device mentioned, and the device monitors the line... if the device hears a fax tone it switches the call to the port for fax or for a regular call if no tone is found.

Unfortunatly there is a delay in receiving calls since the device monitors the call before transfering to the correct port.

My bad... guess I never read it out completely.

Curly is correct, my last statement is now moot.

I have never seen one but I thought on CICS you could put in a key code that would turn on a fax switch and get the fax out of the ATA port.

as curlycord says you need a ring detector before the system

i have used "line share devices" (brand name) they can be purchased as fax detect or as ring detect
