I have a remote user who uses Outlook Express. He called me the other day and said that the e-mail that were read in his inbox yesterday were not there today. He also staded that when the inbox was highlighted the status bar said that there were 30 some messages in his inbox but he didn't see any. I told he to check the inbox assistant and he told me there were no rules setup. Does anyone know of any other way you could possibly filter e-mail. thanks

Seems more like a problem with Outlook Express rather than a rules or filter issue, as if it was filtered to different folders or something then the inbox would not show 30 odd messages. Try running the Inbox Repair Tool. Jay~

Thanks KeyTech, but here is the stupid follow up question. Where in windows 98 is the Inbox Repair Tool. I con find it on a win95 pc but not 98. Thanks again.

The inbox repair tool is a program thats run called 'scanpst.exe'.

If you cant find a shortcut to it, do a search on your C: for that file name scanpst.exe[/] and then run it......
Hopefully it should fix the problem. Jay~

Um... does he have the latest version of McAffe installed? If so, has he patched it. There is a MAJOR bug related to this that they fixed with a patch. Mike Wills

Umm, out of curiosity as to whether it would solve my own problem (posted today) I went looking for this tool. It was not on my system. I did a Google search, and from what the results indicated, the Inbox Repair Tool is for *Outlook* .PST files, not Outlook Express (which uses a standard OE .dbx file for its Inbox). Re-reading the original post, it seems that dfm4597's problem is with OE, not Outlook. Am I overlooking something?

Cheers,
Scott

In the toolbar click on "View" then scroll down to "Current View" then check that "Show all Messages" is selected instead one of the other 2 "Hide read messages" or "Hide Ignored/Read Messages"

if it is not that it is Mcafee v6.01 like Koldark said
