hello,

i am soon going to replace my current sound card, an on mother board Yamaha (i am not at home, so i don't have the exact specs, or the exact namr for that matter), all i am wondering is how to diable the on board card, do i do it just through the Hardware Profile thing (System--->Device Manager---->sound card), or do i have to change something on my motherboard??? Any help would be appreciated. The card i am going to replace it with is a Sound Blaster Live! Platnum, also any comments about this particular card would be appreciated

Thanx

The device mangler stuff removes references from Windows. The physical hardware is still there waiting to be discovered on the next boot. You have to cripple it on the M/B to make sure you don't see it again. Now the question is , did the board manufacturer include everything required to cripple it in hardware. Think you will find in bios settings, currently enabled, you want it disabled.
Ed Fair
efair@atlnet.com

Any advice I give is my best judgement based on my interpretation of the facts you supply.
Thanks

once i get home, if i can not figure it out i will post some more information....

Thanx again

Settings should be in the BIOS. One word of caution, I have seen some onboard game ports still glom resources even though they were disabled through the bios. They were picked up by Windows anyway and had to be software disabled in Device Manager in order to allow the port on the new card to work properly.
Al
atc-computing@home.com
