Hi All,

do i understand it right that it's not possible to protect users from a "Follow Me Here" by other users?

System: IP Office 500v2 R6.1 with 16xx and 96xx phones

So is every user able to route the extension of another user to his own phone by "Follow Me Here" function without a possibility for the extension's owner to avoid this for example by changing any settings (or by System Administrator) or the requirement of a password? Yes i know he can delete it afterwards... but let the boss be on vacation for two weeks and someone else does the "Follow Me Here" for his no. and he won't notice.

Isn't this a security problem? Or does anybody know how to fix this?

Thanks in advance and a nice weekend everyone.

The system can not make up for stupid and/or disobedient staff, this isn't a security issue it's a staffing/discipline issue. It would also be an Admin nightmare password protecting such features and you are the first I have heard ask for it :)

You can password protect it but then the user cannot change anything in the menu.
I think you can even disable it by changing the 46xxsettings.txt file.
Although it is not supported on 9600 phones i still think it works.

## This setting restricts access to certain user options.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

You can also remove the forwarding menu (which contains the follow me settings) from 14xx and 16xx handsets using Manager in the user settings, but not 96xx :)

Thanks amriddle01 for your answer.

It's not that i think of a new or global password for this feature but why not use this user's login password as verification?

That's what i'd have expected.

Ah.. thanks you two :)
i will try this settings file thing next Monday

Hi again,

you were right...these solutions also hide my normal forwarding options so i can't do it this way.
Well.. seems we have to live with it :(

Thx to all
