I have installed an AGP graphics card (Radeon 2400 HD) on an older system I built some time ago. Basically I just want to test / play around with a HTPC set up using up hardware I had before I decide what proper hardware to buy.
The problem is I am having some sort of problem / conflict with the display driver and the on-board audio driver. Basically XP won’t boot if I enable the audio driver, it hangs during start up.
However, I have found that if I disable the audio driver on shut down, then the system boots up no problems and I can enable it after start up and everything works fine.
I have tried getting help from ATI, but basically I think it would be easier to find out who shot JFK!
Anyway, is there a way I can edit some .ini file and/or write some .bat file to disable the audio driver during start up, enable it after start up and then automatically disable it at shut down?
(I have WindowsXP Pro SP2 installed.)
