I have an Option 61. We have DID range across a primary PRI (loop 2) which is problematic and drops occasionally. We have added a second PRI (loop 18). The idea was to have the circuits provisioned so that if loop 2 fails, all DID numbers would function on the second PRI. This is not happening. I do believe the issue is with the way the circuits have been provisioned by the CO. Is there anything I need to check in BARS and NARS that might prevent this from functioning properly? I do appreciate any and all answers.

Hello, on the inbound side it would be up to your CO to reroute the DID calls to the new PRI spans. Once they hit the PBX they should route correctly. On the outbound side if you want to use the new spans as a failover you will need to modify the RLI entry in LD 86 and add the new route.

Usually when you build a RLI you will just have something under entry 0 in that RLI, when you change it you would create entry 1 and then put the route info there. More than likely your old PRI spans are probably associated with RLI 0, maybe 1.

Have the CO make one trunk group fail over to the other trunk group. One span drops, the other span picks it up and is seemless to the user.

Thanks guys,

The CO did not complete the provisioning properly on the circuit. We have it working now. I do appreciate the responses.
