Software: Nortel Norstar [Maintenance -> System -> SP: 30NdG04], which I think is at least 4.1 as I was able to set up routing/destination to forward my telephone to my cell phone (my last post).

I'm going through the manual right now, and I was wondering if there was a way to set up a way to get to the extensions here at the office without going through the secretary. Some kind of auto-assistant or a way for the software to react to dial presses after it starts ringing.

Essentially, what I want to do is program the numbers with pauses then the extensions into my cell phone.

For example this contact:

Jane Doe
(248) 123-4567ppp702

which would then call the office number, pause, and then dial the extension, routing straight to Jane Doe.

We have 15 lines here, and we don't use them all, so I could even make an incoming line dedicated to simple hooking to the intercom system automatically and waiting for the digits to be dialed.

This may be impossible, as I can't seem to find how to do it in the manual. But I couldn't find out how to forward my telephone to my cell phone either and you guys knew how, so I figured I'd ask. Thank you :).

MICS 4.1

Voice mail is used for that, one of the features of voice mail is Auto Attendant which will answer with greeting and press what you want/need.

If you each have private mailboxes you might have it already and just need to enable it.

Alright, so voicemail is where I need to look. I'll start working on that when everyone leaves in about 2 hours.

Oh, I just put in F985 and it stated: "Feature Inactive." So I'm guessing I gotta go program some more :p.

So, do I give the voicemail auto-attendant new extensions? Or do I assign them already used extensions?

& after that, I'm guessing I'd need to find a way to route one incoming number to this auto-attendant voicemail thing somehow.

Hmm, at least it's possible, but I have some work to do on it.

You do not have voice mail it appears.

Compatible voice mails:
Norstar NAM 4.0 or above - for lot of mailboxes!!
Startalk Flash 1.9 or above - for 24 to 48 mailboxes
Callpilot any version - 2 flavors on this ..100 and 150.

I see. I guess they never installed one here. Which means I can't use any kind of auto-attendant. Dang it.

But I was going through the manual and what about assigning a number to this CoS (Class of Service) Feature? It sort of sounds like what I want. Dial the number, enter a password, and then dial the extension to route to anyone? Would that not work?

I could spare a dedicated line, but is this DISA another piece of hardware entirely, or it it software built into the system/telephones?

As it turns out, DISA (Dial in number, password, extension, viola) is exactly what I wanted, but I'll admit, this installer guide is so not-for-non-installers.

Right now, I'm just trying to play around in the System -> System Programming -> Remote Access -> Remote Packages thing just to see if I can get anywhere. But I'll admit, I'll be lucky if I can figure it out seeing as even the installer guide is so vague about this DISA.

Thank you for all your help.
