Details of COS 0 as a 'default' cos

I'll give you Wednesday off if you can direct me to an article which explains the use and considerations for making changes to COS 0. I know that Agent IDs use this COS, and as a result of some experiments, I know that VDNs do too. Do any of you Super Techs have some insight? How about an Avaya person?
