Hi,

We are running an Exchange 2000 environment with Outlook 2000 on the desktop.

We have a 2 day deleted item retention period set on the server.

Random users who i know are emptying their deleted items regulary are reporting that emails that they deleted and emptied out of the deleted item folder are reappearing, sometimes dating back 1 or 2 years.

One user had over 4,000 mail messages reappear and is getting rather annoyed.

Any Help appreciated

Thanks

Their client files may be corrupted. This KB article has some ideas. Have you tried to "hard deleting"the messages? Click the messages and then press the SHIFT+DELETE keys. This bypasses the delete folder. Another KB article I saw that may be relevant is listed too. I don't know much about exchange but it sounds like tose sticky messages are stuck on the server somewhere and based on a profile is sending them back home. I hope these KBs help.
