How can I delete the *.mdf and *.ldf files?

I ran a db creation script, which failed, but it managed to create the *.mdf and *.ldf files with huge space earmarked.
So now there is no database, but I am stuck with this huge space occupied by these files.

any help appreciated.

If you can't delete the files that's becuase SQL thinks that it's still using them.

Check the master.dbo.sysaltfiles and see if they are listed.

If they are then the database was created and will need to be dropped before you can delete them.

Please let me know.
