My Difinity is connected to the Audix using a hub and to the network. I upgraded my Network, and since then, I can't get to Audix via the LAN. I changed IP addresses but can't get it. Can't I just change the cabling so the Definity and the Audix are just connected to my Network without the hub in between? I don't know why I think that the two systems must be directly connected. Is this true?

No you can have the two system on the network also. You have both the options, a cross cable between the two & second is you connect CLAN on network & connect the Intuity Audix on LAN. Are you able to ping the Audix from network?

If you are using Message Manager on the Intuity you have to use the hub. Message Manager uses the IP address to get into the Intuity. Without Message Manager you can use a direct connection as mentioned above as long as you use the cross over cable that came with C-LAN board.

I can't ping it. I can't use any crossover cable? Is there something differnt with the cable because I don't have the one that came with it. I am trying to use Message Manager.

Make sure you defined the Default Gateway, and Subnet in the INtuity...

Thanks,
Chris

I have it in there. It worked before and all I did was change to a new IP set.

Have you rebooted it since you made the change?

I'm assuming your Definity isn't talking to your Audix box. You've got to set up both IP addresses (both Audix and Definity) to be in the same subnet before they'll talk to each other.

Assuming you have a laptop that you can plug in to the hub there, one tool I like to use is NMAP (from ). I use it to scan my boxes to see what ports might be open. The Audix box uses port range of 5000-ish (5001-5011-ish, maybe a port 23 for telnet, and 80 if it supports http: ). You should be able to enter the IP address of your Audix box in to NMAP, scan it, and see some open ports. You can do the same thing to your switch as well. If both IP addresses respond to your laptop, then it's a configuration issue (gateway?) on one of them.

They are talking. I just can't use Message Manager to check voice mail or manage groups. Do they need to talk across a direct connection? Or do they use voicemail ports to talk?

As you said "It worked before and all I did was change to a new IP set." Make sure that you have the right subnet & gateway defined on intuity. I am sure if this has worked earlier & the only change made is the new IP address, after which the Ping is also stopped. There must be something wrong in the TCP/IP settings on Intiuty.. Check the setting in the network addressing & run diagostics on it in intuity to see this...
