I have a definity switch and I would like to hook up music on hold, this to be configured to work with a cd player or some external source. In my posession I have a coupler I'm not sure this is even needed? I was wondering if someone has documents to show how to wire/setup and what I may need to accomplish this task.

well im a noob but i will try to help.

Youll need a tn763 auxillary card installed in your system.

Change system parameters features :

on tab 1 7th item down

Music/tone on hold: Music port: 1b1502

1b15 is the address on my tn763

a way to test is to dial facility test call access code
(you'll find this on tab two 3rd item down.)plus the port which you connected the music to.

for me dial 7901b1502 and i am connected to the music feed.

As for the 909 coupler i have uploaded an AVAYA pdf detailing it's use. It looks like its nessary if you plan to interupt overhead music with paging.

it is here.

I am still researching also if i find anything i else i will post.

Hope this helped

A quick way to listen to MOH is to assign a VDN (non DID) with a vector step 1 wait hearing music 99 sec
step 2 goto step 1

In the future everything will work...

Ok - I dont have a spare Aux port, but what I have read it looks like I can use a spare analog port is this true?
And if it is would i be able to hook up to something like a portable cd player? And how? Just punch down the speaker leads?
This would only be for testing.

Yes, you can use an analog port for this. Administration on the PBX is the same.

Change system parameters features :

on tab 1 7th item down

Music/tone on hold: Music port: XXXXXX (analog port)

It is best to aquire a bogen amplifier unit VS. plugging in directly. You plug into your output jack of the CD player and then wire this to the bogen (strip the oposite end of the wires to connect to the bogen). Then you would wire x-connect wires from the output leads of the bogen and punch down to your analog port.

Go from the analog port to a Music On Hold coupler. The music on hold coupler has an RJ-11 jack for the output. You plug a line cord into that a strip off the other end and punch that down onto the analog port. The other side of the MOH coupler has female RCA plugs. You plug your source music into that.

Comcode 105179303
Its listed as a System 25 Interface.
